These are really nice. For someone 'who doesn't do much photography', you sure have an eye for it!
The last one is a hoot!! The middle one is my favorite.

Yep Ivy - plenty of Holly to go with it at Christmas as well
My pictures loose quite a bit of definition when resized down to 450px - shame we can't go larger...

Does it matter how the photo becomes b/w? Can I take a photo in color and edit it into b/w or should I take the photo in b/w to begin with?

Lucky you!! At Christmas time we get...palm trees. In spring we get....palm trees. In summer and fall we get...(can you guess??)...YES! Palm Trees!!
LOL!! I guess I shouldn't really complain. There is a reason everyone retires down here.
Personally, I'm ready to find a cabin, in the snow, on a mountain top somewhere!!

Hi -
Yes, I joined the site just so I could do this
I found it because of the mention on your blog, Criket.
I used your trick for resizing and using the sharpening mask - I used an older picture I had because it is very architectural with sharp lines and angles; it showed degradation quickly when I resized. I'm in love with this tool!
Since I found this at the proverbial 11th hour, I think I'll only have time for this one.

One of my favorite filter methods for black and white images is a free download.
