Improve Photos By Cropping

Some of you may find this article helpful.

Improve Photos By Cropping

Make sure and note the caution at the end of the post.

Quote:
Beware of cropping too much
Be careful how much you crop. Whenever you remove parts of an image, you are eliminating pixels resulting in less pixels than the original. If you chop too much off, and then try to print the smaller photo back at the original size, you can notice some degradation of quality or lack of crispness. It does depend on the number of mega pixels in your original photo and how large you wish to print the cropped photo so if unsure, test it first.

good ol' cropping. I don't think I've ever had a shot I didn't crop just a little bit. A solution to the loss of pixel issue posted above would be to shoot bigger pics in anticipation for the cropping. That way you will be able to print in big sizes and will more than likely have to downsize rather than try to scale up and stretch the pic.

good tips cricket, thanks for sharing that!

It will come in handy when I crop my jewelry pics. Which is the worse subject for me to photograph!

Thanks Cricket - great article. I've found with my subject material that getting right on them works great but was feeling guilty for "cropping with my camera" -

The closer you can get in most cases, the better off you are going to be. Cropping is something I do to get any excess out that I didn't get out when I took the shot.
