registering multiple domain names

I can only register about 3/4 domain names.Should I go for the .net,.org,etc extensions of my domain name,or the misspelled/singular plural ones of my main .com domain name?

I'd go for the .net, .org, etc. Unless your domain has a word in it that is very often misspelled.

I'd get the .com , .net and .us if your in the United States.....

If your an organization - get the .org too...

It's pretty rediculous because you wind up wanting to get everyone available but it's just not practicle.....

I've been there...... Just try and get the main ones...

if it is digitman.com also register digiman.com, digitalman.com.

If you can't decide which extensions to register, take a look at new names (not affiliated).

That's just a waste....good SEO should eliminate the need to do that.

There may be a risk for not getting the commonly misspelled domains. For example, Apple.com is the computer company we all know and love. I think Appl.com is a p-0-r-n site.

You can always get a few domains for a year and see what traffic the misspelled, .net, and .org domains get.

I was looking at this while I read your post. Thought this was funny.

http://www.dumbppl.com/video/apple.wmv

NOTE: Some Explicit Language. But very funny and IMO and true. I have more problems with my mac than my pc's.

On the topic. I would personally only register 1 domain name. I've worked with several companies that have registered all the .whatever(s) for their domain name and it was a waste of time and money.

Another thing to consider is that the SE may penalize you for duplicate content if you are pointing all your domain names to the same site. I may be wrong on this but I remember reading this somewhere.
