Personally I worry about regional url's because I'm under the misguided perception that they will limit my sites overall exposure. Even though I live in Canada I don't think I'd ever purchase a .ca domain.

China has d world's largest internet population followed by US...Canada too is not very low on the list...so this automatically increases d popularity of these ccTLDs n it would definitely b beneficial to get your domain in these extensions if u intend to target the local market....but they hav restrictions on reg so u gotta keep an eye on dat

If you are good with SEO, then you can have any extension you want.

I personally prefer .com's and .net's

.cn sounds cheap, maybe because it is
.ca is highly targeted for Canadian users, not so much used.
.us is the most used among them, and i like it best actually.

Unless I am in the US, Canada or China, or if you are selling stuffs/doing business in these countries, I will not touch these at all.

The only exception is that if they are a huge generic that I can easily resell such as hotels.cn or travel.ca, then I don't mind

I've found that .com's and .net's are best... because they're most known, easier to remember.
It's pretty tough to remember a random extension like .PR if you're not from there or haven't heard of it.
Also, like alterego said, I'd be worried about dampening the site's exposure.

Then, on the other hand, after5pc is right too about being good with SEO. But it'd be work if you aren't somewhat knowledgeable with it.

They are good domain names and I would say they are good for the local business.
They are related to the countries but as well can be used for the general market

I kind of disagree here. I believe that have a ccTLD applicable to your target audience really helps. Like today i would be better off selling a global product on .com and .in and .co.uk...It helps me reach out better and even customize my packages for the different group of people....and like i mentioned earlier, these 3 ccTLDs have a huge market.

Some ccTLDs are really good for domain names as they could become a logical continuation of the name especially such extensions as .us .me .it .in .to, etc.

For getting such extensions I recommend eurodns.com - as they have widest psossible list of ccTLD to register, and often offer discounts.

I would be a .us name, but still haven't gotten around to that yet. Atm I prefer .com's, .net's and .info's more.

Good if you're planning to target specific country.

I suppose that some of people prefer to have the satellites to their main domain names in the most popular ccTLD just in case.

I like the .us ones out of the 3 you listed. Personally though, I try to stick with .com, .org, or .net.
