Problems With Name Crave - Something Illegal?
I have a client who hosted their site with a company that went under (just diassapeared one day), but I got their site at another hosting company. The domain is with NameCrave, but they won't let me or the client transfer it. They don't respond to emails and say they will charge a fee to transfer it. They can't do that, can they? How can I get them to let me transfer the domain, they are in Bombay India. I need to get this resolved, the domain expires in sixteen days. Thanks!

Unfortunatly all you can do is pay the fee. You never really own the domain name. The registar does. All you are doing is paying to use it. If you use one of those "really cheap" services the odds are they could go under some day and then you will be SOL.
It's not unreasonable to charge a fee for transferring the domain name/site for you. Even if it only takes them 5 seconds to do it.

If you still have problems, call eNom at this number: 425.274.4500, and ask to speak with JoAnne in the support center for transferring domains. She helped me and things went smooth.
Beleive it or not, the problem was with NameCrave too

She can transfer it if you can prove you have ownership of the domain.

No, you have to pay BUT, it adds another year to your registration.
You can transfer to whatever domain registrar of your choice as long as eNom has power over it.
