Take care - GoDaddy can do private or non private names, but if you want to transfer them away, make you wait 60 days, and restart the 60 days for very slight reasons.
There is a process when changing registrars. When the process is started, you should get a notice in your email associated with the original domain registration info saying there has been a request to move registrars. You have to approve it.
If you send the request to transfer yourself from your GoDaddy account then things should go fine.
You need to also double check the policies with your old domain registrar as to how long before domain name registration expiry you are allowed to do this. (or if you just got the domain, how long after you can do it).
Hello-
I think I stated my question poorly. I found the answer on the web. Apparently godaddy does register a domain in YOUR name not theirs. I was worried about loosing control when I transferred.
There rates are much less expensive then network solutions.
Just be sure that your old registrar has your correct email address and dance through all the proper steps as Tutor posted.
I have completed the entire process in as little as 3 hours when I was leaving a "reputable" registrar. Some losing ones like to drag it out but the better ones don't.
