Keyword in domain name
What you think keyword in domain name has any SEO benefit at all. From visitor or user point of view you can it is easy to remember. But I am thinking about” anchor text “. Is it helpful to get any technical benefit from keyword or anchor text in domain name? I saw many web sites rank well in major search engine without having any close keyword in domain name. Please give your valuable comment.

I think it adds HUGE SEO benefit to the site. Most websites are at the top of search engines with very few backlinks / anchored links because every link or mention of the site is an anchored backlink.

Keywords in domain name DO NOT help your SEO. There are a lot of related threads was posted here. Please read carefully.

It doesn't hurt your SEO but it doesn't help enough to make it one of your top SEO methods. Personally I would rather have it in my domain name than not..assuming it's not too unwieldly

Cannot see why it should NOT help your SEO - due to limited textual possibilities in title and description, it will certainly help if you have a good important keyword in your domain name. How much it would help , i will not speculate into - but theres no way someone will convince me that it doesn't give a "bonus"

It absolutely DOES help your website. I recently registered a domain, got it online, submitted it to the top 3 SE's, and some bookmarking sites, and it showed up as #4 out of 1,500,000 results in Google within 2 days for its keywords, which just so happen to be the domain name.

There is no doubt that it helps. Take a look at the keyword "sleep apnea". SleepApnea.org shows up at the top of google. They are above Web MD, wikipedia and the Mayo Clinc.
That is with 3,640,000 searches for sleep apnea. SleepApnea.com is on the first page and SleepApneaInfo.com is on the second page...it has the potential to make it to page 1 if they kept posting new content.

Keyword in domain does help in SEO but only a little. You should get them balanced. If you have a domain name with full keywords but too long to people to remember, then it would be a waste.
Apart from this, I would recommend avoiding too many dashes (-) in domain name. It may help Google separate the keyword but it could make peoples confused.

It does help. In our tests, there is a clear ratio of the number of links you need to rank a domain based on weather or not it matches the keyword query. Each additional word added to that domain takes more links to rank. Please read some more on this. I would recommend doing some testing yourself if you have the budget for R&D.

It helps, the same way that having keywords in your page title helps. But like you said, when it comes to the domain name there is a fine line between good and bad as it isn't just about seo, but also the end user and whether they have the patience to type it and/or are able to remember it.

If this is going to be a big project, a big website, then you might consider the branding option. Choose a good name that people will remember and promote the crap out of it. You'll just need more links.

I agree with one of the other responses. It certainly doesn't hurt your SEO, but it won't get you ranked high. It will act as a bonus to your SEO efforts.
•Put one, no more than two, keywords in the title.
•Keep your title tag to no more than 7 words.
•Be sure to place your keyword(s) within the headlines of your website.
•When establishing your domain name, be sure to include your keywords.

If you can get your keywords in the domain get it but if you can't then it is not the end of the world.

Why do you think so? I'm sure you are not correct. Can you please prove it somehow?

I've found some comments/opinions from SEO masters about the keywords in domain which i really want to share:
Quote:
Matt Cutts, the head of Google's Webspam team specializing in search engine optimization issued statements last week reinforces the strength of the keywords in SEO ranking
"Domain names are the primary way of mapping where domains are on the web and Matt expects that to continue. Domain names are important and inseparable going forward"
"Owning a keyword match domain name is going to carry some weight in Google for the foreseeable future. It is something they want to reward. "
“The keyword in backlink is golden, if I launch http://www.beer.co.uk or http://www.steel.co.uk, been a half decent SEO I should be able to get top 3 of those terms, BUT and this is a big but, if your in a highly competitive term area and you are good you can actually bind your brand to a search term which is golden as well”
"Having a generic domain helps with link building tremendously, if you owned the domain Childrens.co.uk, it is likely that when people link back to you from their sites that they will use the anchor text " Childrens.co.uk". The fact that this is one of the main keywords you will be targeting in the search engines, combined with the fact that it is used exclusively in anchor text to your site and it matches the domain location exactly adds up to a very powerful piece of SEO, with the additional benefits of direct type in traffic"

Advantages of Keywords in URL Structure
One advantage of having the primary keyword in a website’s domain name is that even if some other sites link to the website using just its URL, the website still gets the benefit of the keyword as its anchor text.
Having keywords in the domain name helps to improve CTR (click thru rate) since the URL with the keyword gets bolded in the search results which grabs more attention of the searchers.

Keywords in Domain still helps in SEO...
like for example:
www(xxx) diamond.com if someone wants to link it back to you b'coz they've found very useful they simply get your domain name which is Diamond to make it as anchor text..

It is very nice you went to the trouble to find these. Could you please provide the links where you quoted the above from so we can read the whole posts/articles.
