The cheapest one you know?
Hello,
We are going to lunch a domain registration business by end of this week, we are kind-of too much confused with starting price of .com/.net tld's.
Finally, we end up deciding to provide the service at $6.99 for regular clients and $5.99 for priority/vip clients.
I was wondering, if you guys can tell me what the cheapest registrar you know around so we can think twice about lowing down the price =)
Note: Please do not message me about asking the website address etc, follow my twitter account- @ahmednitul ~ I'll post the link as soon it's ready =D
Best wishes,
Ahmed Nitul.

I suppose you are going to buy reaseller account for this purpose? In this case your price will depends on the price which your domain name registrar provide for you.

I am using 2 registerars. FXdomains.com & Name.com
But I must say that I am not looking for the cheapest ones, but for the best.
I am wondering how you come up with $5.99 tho.

That is the normal prize indeed, same I pay.
I wouldn't even buy a $5.99 .COM, doesn't sound reliable to me.
@ahmednitul -> That is with acces to the nameservers and stuff, or can you only change settings?

That would be about right. Last time I checked, Network Solutions was charging about $5.50 to host DNS.
Unless you get them to take a loss, they're not going to get any cheaper than that. A few do but you have to pay for something else like hosting or a ssl cert.

Are you accredited or just a reseller? If the latter... wouldn't you be selling at a loss?

That seems very cheap, but I'm more concerned about proven reliability. That's the toughest part about getting into this game. By offering such low prices, perhaps you will be able to gain a good user base - then it's up to you to deliver a good service, and the rest should fall into place in time.
Good luck!

Don;t know but considering that they're promoting a reseller rate of $4 a year domains on their front page and $6 a year when you go into their site, I wouldn't trust them.

Yeah. If domain name have very low price you'd better not deal with such resellers.

I believe Joker themselves is a registrar, not a reseller. They don;t have the correct pricing posted though for their resellers.

Try with resellerclub.com. They are having the most effective prizes in the industry.

Joker works good and has a reseller account with an API you could use to build a name registration business around if you want. But I don't see you making money at the prices you are suggesting ($6.99 and $5.99) unless there is a 'catch'. Not sure on your business model but if you are coming here asking for the cheapest and are still looking for how to provide it I'm thinking you are a little premature setting your price. I'd also point out there are a lot of "free" domain name offers out there that they bundle with hosting or some other catch. I know that Joker is now offering a discount for first year as well.
Good luck and let us know if you have come up with a way to sell reliable $5.99 domain names with no strings attached.

You can't sell it for lower than what you'd pay to ican and verisign, their fees alone are at least $7 and are going up soon. Godaddy has the cheapest now with a coupon, $6.89, but they're not really making any money on those, they make money by selling other services.

Just bought a $10 domain that was discounted to $8 and got free hosting for a year....all the bells and whistles....
Wasn't looking for a new domain...just could not pass up a deal like that....the price of 3 beers.....

So you have chosen that domain name registrar only because of the discount they offered?
