Has anyone noticed that new domain names only take a few hours to be active. ? last year it took 48 hours ..

in most cases.. it is INSTANT!!!

I remember when I was with other hosting it took atleast 24 hours

it has nothing really to do with the hoster, but more with the registar and your ISP. when you update name servers, 2 things need to happen, the registar needs to update there database, (not all registars do this, but over the last year for major TLD's they have increased the update to every 5 to 20 minutes instead of the every 5 to 24 hours it used to be) then your ISP has to update there internal DNS, this can be the killer, but there also getting better with automation and such.

I saw my site a few hours after I set up the DNS. When I just got my site up and when visited I saw it, but if I reloaded the page I saw godaddy. Why? Did this for a day or two.

funky DNS records

most likly because the ISP didnt flush old records out they just added to them, so it was hit or miss which name server you would ask for
