Am I in trouble?

hey there,

I registered guitarresources.net and dragoneyedesign.net about 3 years ago with my web hosting provider HostReflex.

I am very satisfied with their service but I have decided to finally start my own web design / hosting company.

For the hosting I would buy a reseller account with another host and transfer both domains to the new host. The problem is that when I look up both dragoneyedesign.net and guitarresources.net on whois.com I get following information:

The domain name has owner name HostReflex, could that be a problem? I will have to edit the Nameservers in order to make the domainname transfer to the new server but I won't be able to edit it myself since I haven't got the information to do so.

I'd like to know what my options are before I contact HostReflex

Contact the host first. If they don't do anything about it contact eNom or whoever the bigger company is...

But how can I know who the bigger company is?

Probably they are a reseller too but isn't reselling all about anonimity?

THe ICANN register is eNom, you should talk to them about it if your host doesn't wanna let the domain go.

You could be in deep trouble. According to ICANN regulations, you have no authority over the domains. Hopefully, your registar will release the domains.

so... they got the domains because you originally "bought" them there? that doesn't make sense... what am i missing??

When they processed the domain the host used there information o the domain instead of the person they purchased it for. So now the host has full control over such domain. If the host does not change the information for you, try to find the reciept that shows you were the one initiating the purchase.

This is why I always advise registering a domain from a seperate company, or from a host that keeps their systems seperate.
