Domain transfer impossible?

Hi

I have a bad domain name problem. I have just taken over the website where I work and have done a new design etc. I have now realised however that we do not own the domain, it was being leased to us by another company.

Now that I have designed a new site for the company I have wanted to make use of PHP and MySQL but my current hosting only has PHP. Now for me to make the changes to my hosting I need to own the domain name. I have tried to contact them over and over but nothing. When I phone them a new company is now there so I suspect they may have gone bust.

Is there anyway to transfer a domain from a non contactable company?

I would very much appreciate any advice you can give me.

hrm, wel when you transfer a domain a request is normally sent to the email it was registered under. otherwise there's normally no way to get it transfered.
