Go Daddys Redirect Interface Penalty Safe?

I use Go Daddy for most of my domain names.
Often I will have more than one domain name for a site.
I dont know diddly about 301 redirects but enough to know that redirecting has to be done correctly and not jsut forward a domain if that is correct?

Anyway, I was wondering about Go Daddy's Interface for redirecting a domain name.
Is it really a safe redirect?
In other words, when I log into Go Daddy and repoint a domain using their interface to the same url is this safe or am I going to get nailed for it one day?
IF it is not safe then I have to learn more about doing the redirects properly and will need to find a laymans terms how to.

Thanks
Frank

I've always had the same nagging question, I have a lot of low volume URL's that I all stick in as subdomains of another site with a redirect. So far it seems to make no difference in search engines, but I'm never sure. One site has been like that for over a year, and still has a PR of 4.

There does seem to be a big problem in the way it does it's redirects, in that the individual page URL's cannot be linked from other sites. What ends up happening is that a search for text on a page displays on Google with the page name, but clicking on it always goes to the top level page. That's kind of useless.

Godaddy uses a temporary 302 (as far as I know from experience). There are other factors such as frequency of visits by SEs.

Googlebot visits more frequently than its counterparts from Yahoo and MSN. This means that even if you update (remove the redirect) on GoDaddy, it may take some time before the SEs visit the domain again to update.

I avoid using redirects if I plan to turn off the redirect.
