3 letter Word Domains

I am about to register a 3 letter word domain:

How much do you think they would be worth if it wasn't the normal domain extentions like .com, .org, .net

ie: dog.ws

Any ideas before I waste my money

I bought a .info once, but network solutions wouldn't let me keep it. It was "my.info" and they let me pay for it online, gave me everything I needed to show it was mine... but when I tried to do anything with it, it would never connect. I couldn't host it, forward from it or anything. When I asked about it and complained they game me my money back and sent me on my way.

I should have sued them over it... and made them let me use it. They said it was a mistake to have sold it and that 2 letter domains where not available.

Imagine what I could have done with that domain... oh well.
</off topic>

Point is... the only time I see buying an "odd" extention as worth while is when it is so creative it makes people remember it easily.

I think it depends, up here ".ca" gives the impression it's a canadian domain so if you're targeting business in the great white north then it's an advantage.

Hugenerd is liked by many
I currently have the domain name Taliban.us up for sale on ebay... it has over 200 hits.. just no bids. So yeah... unless its a .com or such it really isnt worth too much. But then again maybe my starting bid is too high... maybe people think its a joke... maybe I should have used the $20 it cost to register to buy one of those usb powered fans... who know... its been fun though! There was that guy awhile ago that had mikerowesoft.com I think in the end he made off alright with that domain or maybe he just got sued. It has been my experience that Canadians like the .CA it makes us feel even less American.. IMO .CAs are a good investment..

Hmmm.. I'd disagree. I mean if it's a commo word like dog.ws I'd grab it in a heartbeat.

In short, it depends on the word or letters if it's a good acronym for something.

Yeah the guys name was Mike Rowe. M$ threatened to take him to court but ended up giving him a Playstation 2 and helped him divert traffic to his new domain name in a settlement.

And also remember at one time dog.com was worthless...

would firstkeyword-lastkeyword.org be worth anything decent? Esp. when all other extensions are taken?

I like .orgs. Definitely not worth the same in a dot com, but still not bad.

If you're buying it to resell, .ws and .cc are some of the hardest to get rid of. I've had some sweet ones I just let expire because no one would even give me reg fee.
However, developed... I have a cc that does wonders in the serps.

You'd be surprised what you can find in exotic tld's, I think I saw lyrics.tc (turks & Caicos) was available to reg for 50 bucks or so. That's a monster keyword but it's expensive and has little resale value.

Does the tld effect SERP performance? If not, I have an awesome domain I can buy for reg fee that would do great in the serps

The regional variaiation of major search engines seem to like links from sites within the regions domains or high up in their own listings. I have managed to get UK domains ranked high in .fr, .be & .de searches by getting links from .fr, .be & .de sites.
