Why Does ICANN Accredit Registrars?

What is the purpose why ICANN accredits domain name registration companies?

Somebody has to manage the system, and they're the ones in charge now.

If a company doesn't have the budget to get accredited, they can simply resell domains from another registrar. Enom and Godaddy (Wildwestdomains) are two popular registrars in the reselling space.

They are essentially the police of the entire domain industry. All aspects of internet life go through them.

If there is none to manage the domain registration, it would be like a nation without a king

ICANN has been doing the best job and almost all the cases are taken seriously at ICANN irrespective of who has filed a case.

So if ever you have problems with your registrar (icann accredited) regarding your domains not being released then you can check out Icann's policy and see if your domain registrar is not abiding the rules set by icann.

Exactly. ICANN is the authority and the supreme controller of many TLD's (domain name extensions such as .com, .net, .info etc). Even, we need to have to pay a fee on our domain name purchase.

If you want to start a domain name registration service (then you must be accredited by ICANN). If you've not having a budget for the ICANN accreditation then, the alternative way is to get a reseller account from any of the ICANN accredited registrars.
