linking external DNS with account in WHM/cPanel

Hey, I just set up a VPS server that runs WHM and cpanel. I am trying to route a domain name, let's call it tempdomain.com, to the HTML files of an account, let's call that webapp.com. The domain name is managed by dreamhost, the VPS is with a local company. So once I point the DNS entry to my VPS nameserver, then what?

That domain name is temporary.. so I don't want to create an account in WHM called tempdomain.com, I want to just leave it as webapp.com. The support person at my hosting company says that's not possible, that I would need to create an account named tempdomain.com within WHM for that connection to happen, but I'm not sure I believe that. Is there some way to route that incoming domain name to a differently named account? Perhaps through some A name or DNS zone tactics?

You should enter it as the domain name, you can't do it anyway else, only if the domain name has a dedicated IP, that way you can simply link it as an IP, then assign the appriprate domain name to the IP whether the current one or the one you want to use later.
