Can we create our own domain name extension?

Dear friends!


My question is to all the experienced people in Domain name arena. Could you please tell me if there are ways to create our own domain name extension?

I've seen it though. Howard Marks (Mr. Nice) has mrnice.hm (currently no website on that address, but it used to)

yah, i have a domain with .hm called images.hm and my mate owns dictionary.hm it very costy tho for a domain, around $15 or $30 i think.

if you had a dns server could you create your own routing rules on it so your made up domains actually point to real sites? sure it would only work for you...

The .xxx extension wasnt approved and has never been available i think most of your examples are not available.

I remember hearing about new TLD's being created a while ago, and companies bidding on who would be the registrar of them. The only thing i could find was this
