.co Domain?
I have a chance to get a great 1 word domain for a local site. I haven't come across too many. What do you think of the .co domain?

If you are starting up a firm or have an existing business, .co might work. Most people do opt for .com, but .co is out there too. Can give it a thought. Or else opt for .org.

I think they are pretty good!
Have certainly seen them ranking well in the past few months.
The .com may outperform it in some circumstances, but for a local site it would be a good bet to get any extension if its a "1 word" domain. As long as it's not the ccTLD of another country obviously.
Are you registering it for registration fee or buying it from the current owner?

Just the registration fee. I was really surprised to see it available. It has been many many years since I have seen a 1 word domain available.

Grab it then!
Don't hesitate, someone else will probably snap it up!
They are not that expensive and you can develop the site over a year you might start earning some decent affiliate / advertising income!

.co? I would just invest in Spanish (Colombian) words.

Not bad .co . As someone said above , as long as it's there it might work just fine . Though i can't explain your wonder for finding 1 word domains (other than .com) I know it's not that easy to find them but there are a lot of options if you know what to look and how . Also depends what you;re after for . You know best, after all it's your discovery.

it's okay to use your country termination for a local business or it's recommended to use .com. Also .co it's ok but .com it's amazing

The .co TLD has been branded as an international domain name now.
The original country code (Columbia) is not really relevant any more! Google, Twitter and Facebook are on board so it can't be bad!

.co can be useful in the right setting but it is no match for a .com.
The .com's are far more superior in value and usefulness.

According to me the biggest problem with .co domain is that .com is so dominant and will be very hard for people to adopt a new extension apart from .net, .org and other country specific domains like .co.uk, .ca etc. Even if people remember your business name, chances are that they will automatically put a .com at the end of it when doing a search. This can potentially be hurtful to your business should your competitor own the .com extension.

Hi,
Why Not you try .com or .org domain Name. These domain extensions are best for traffic, They generally get much traffic compared to others as they are very common ones.

Agree on the last one. Also I have to mention .net domains. They get descent traffic and are popular. However it's hard to find a good and relatively short .com, .net and .org domain name but it's worth using a longer one too.

.com is the oldest and most popular domain.
.co is a country code top-level domain (it's for Colombia) , but it's being recognized also as an international top-level domain (when companies like Google started buying it) and it's getting popular

You said you have already grabbed it, but it might not be the best thing to make it. Maybe just use it as a redirect to your .com version. We have tried .net .org .im and none are anything like .com. It seems people only can remember .com these days. More chances for a returning customer to try the .com version of your domain first.

we cannot compare .com with any like .co, .in, .net, .org etc. .com is best one because users can easily remember .com than other domains
