Expired domain name

There is an expired .co.uk domain name that I am interested to buy but it is still not available eventhough it has expired more than 90 days.

What is the reason?

Most registrars allow a grace period after a domain name expires for the registrant to renew it. That grace period can be as short as one to two weeks or as long as one year in some cases. If the current registrant does not renew it within the allotted time frame, then that domain name should become available. The actual grace period is different for each individual registrar.
I'd say it depends on the company it was registered with.

Check when it hits the pending delete stage, then it will be available for registration something like 5 days after this if no on else snaps it up.

Without knowing the domain to see its EPP status, your best bet is to peruse the website of Nominet, who handles .co.uk's. Their website is http://www.nominet.co.uk

I'm not certain what the drop period is. I know with a .com or .net once it enters pending-delete status, it's deleted within 5 calendar days, but it may very well be that the domain you're asking about hasn't hit that queue yet.
