SEO.com
What do you think the fair market value of seo.com is?
I'd think $20,000 to $30,000, based on possible type in traffic, the fact that it is a rare 3 letter dot com, and of course keyword domain value.
Thoughts?

It seems to be a domain name with alot of potential. I think when you work out a great idea on it the site could earn you more then $20-30k over time.

It probably would have a value similar to that to the right person but personally I think it is too generic and not very brandable.

I too would appraise it to around 25k basing on the factors -
- 3 letter domain
- meaningful word type domain - seo
- type in traffic would be there for sure - As alexa rank is 272k with no site in it.
- very valuable domain

I'd Say around $50,000
Based on the same value of for example templates.com
that sold some time ago for $56,000 if I recall.

Develop it John, you can give it potential!
Set it up as a nice side-project at v7n. Try the google workstyle 70/20/10.

I would smack the owner if it went for 30,000. I would say 75,000 upwards.

Not that I know much about domain sales, but I would not say 50k+ would be asking too much.

Well, if we are talking in theary then I would have to have a good think about it.
But if you have been offerd to buy this domain, then I would have to look into how its been treated and how long for etc etc :S

ovt score for seo.com = 2 typins p/day
ovt score for seo = 1559 searches p/day
Although the name with extension isnt typed in a great deal, the name itself is. I would say if your buying this to develop in the obvious marketplace then 50k would be a good grab. There's no doubt the prestige would be worth something in the eyes of the potential clients. Most seo sites do fine with non-premium domains as the owners have an understanding of how to get placed well without. but having the 'key' name would be an advantage.
Many will trust the brand instinctively and feel stability thus trying their services. Taking escrow.com as an example. Many registrars and even domain selling services offer escrow service and still people opt for escrow.com
If you own it... dont sell. the name will only gain in value over the short and long term.
If your buying... do a quick search for ™ rights. It would suck to buy it only to lose it in udrp.

People registered it at 1995 would not know SEO means Search Engine Optimization.
I think he/she might ask for more than 100k or it would be still a parked site.
Personally, $50k would be a nice price to sell it.

SEO.com - easily $300,000+
There is NO f.... way the domain will go for under 50,000 unless the seller is an idiot.

Domain alone? Not a developed site.

Remember that domains like porn.com, etc sell for millions.
However 300.000 for just Seo.com sounds a tat high. The term seo isn't that 'known' by regular people.

I stand at 50k being a good price. However if I offered or wanted to offer SEO services then I'd certainly consider paying more. We all know with determined SEO that even a hypenated domain name can be placed quite well in SE but for me the prestige of owning the perfect acronym for the business would be well worth it. And as I stated above, having the "grand" name of names would show commitment and give the feeling of stability to anyone looking for such services. There are far too many out there offering these services and the investment they have made on their domain name doesnt give a good presence in my opinion.
I'd feel much more comfortable giving several thousand to someone with their feet planted in their online presence more so than to someone using search-engine-optomization.org
With a name like SEO .com you can get some high volume and have people working under your wing. Done right this domain is a money-maker.
300k... not worth it. 50k, definately a good buy. anything in the middle depends on you and how far you want to go with it.
Let us know what's up when the time's right.

Monetization depends a lot on who owns it. Most people would have a hard time earning $50,000 back.

Major SEO company that can pay 100k for a domain would certainly earn it back -- hey, being *the* SEO firm gives a huge advantage.
100k would be a good price... but if an open auction would be conducted, final price might be much higher.

SEO is big money. No way this would sell for $30k. I would sell my car to buy it if it did.
I say at least $75k but I would not be suprised if a bidding war forced it to as high as $300k.
