getting .edu domain

Can anyone get an .edu domain, if yes how ?

The reason I am asking is that I see some edu domains that don't look like universities and colleges, at least not like real ones

example: nassonu.edu

So the educational institution have to be withing the US do you know ?

From what I read one has to manage the domain and the host from that site ?!!
What does that mean, that an edu has that site as a host ? you can't change hosts ?

This domains are very restricted, you need to send a email to registrar to change the dns etc.. I havent read this site so I can not help you a lot.

The .edu domains did not used to be so restricted. So, there are several .edu domains out there that do not belong to universities. Sometimes they go up for sale and you can buy them. One slight complication is that they aren't transferable, so normally you need to buy the business entity itself rather than just the domain name. I've seen .edu domains trade for as little as high $x,xxx.

I guess there might be a possibility to acquire it if you get associated with any institution listed here though I am not sure about this, check it out;

Before 2001, anyone could register an .edu domain. Thus, fakes like Adison have born.

Giorgos, I've done quite a research on this, and I can affirm that there is no such thing as Adison University in US or Canada. And probably never been -- adison.edu was registered in 1997, when anyone could register it.

I hope the best is do a good site with reputable information, and send an email to the webmaster or any teacher.
