New TLD's under consideration
http://www.cnn.com/2004/TECH/interne....ap/index.html
".asia," ".cat," ".jobs," ".mail," ".post," ".tel," ".xxx," ".mobi," and ".travel."
Sounds interesting.

i think that it's a good idea to have a few more, but not that many, mabey have a law that requires all pornographic websites to have a ".xxx", to insure that people know where there going when they click on a link

I think things are going to get confusing. The only one that I think is needed is the .xxx, which should be manditory for all pornographic sites.
Added: Yes, I am a little slow at typing today I agree with Calisonder.

I agree with have .xxx for all porn sites. It would clear up a lot of confusion and hopefully stop many little kids from accidently visiting a porn site.

I read about the .mobile TLD in the Dispatch. I think it's stupid. (But like everyone else said, the .xxx is a good idea...)

i think .mobi would be good. There is a growing number of people getting online with mobile phones, and with java now enabled it makes it even easier. It would be great being able to know which sites support mobile phones and which didn't. It seperates them off in their own category like they should be, because mobile phones adher to a totaly different set of rules and standards than computers.
the others are stupid other than the .xxx one.

you have to put in a request for the TLD when the commission comes around once every 2 years i believe. Most of the time you have to sponser it, which cost a decent amount of money. The reason for this is that they don't want a bunch of crazy TLDs going on out there, would be like interenet before the www standard.

yeah, you can make any TLD work tht you want honestly. But the browsers are built around the world wide web standard, so you have to modify the browser.

Well, if they're smart business men, they would probably have the prices start out a tad high, then gradually go down from there. (It's what I would do, at least).

They are about £10 (about $20) a year on easyspace
Here is some info about the plug in. I am pretty sure having to install a plugin would be enough to prevent them from hitting off. It makes you ask questions such as would google have this plugin? Would it be able to view the site?

The plug-in installation only supports Netscape Navigator/Communicator and Internet Explorer v4.5 or higher. There is a separate installation for Netscape and Internet Explorer. Below are the URLs for each browser installation:
