Hi,
Selling a domain name can be VERY easy or VERY complicated.
If you are selling a domain name for (IMO) $500 or less, you can do it all on your own. Anything more, I would consider using an escrow service (such as SEDO)
There are a lot of places popping up that you can advertise your domains that you have for sale. Many of the internet marketing forums have places specifically for selling domain names.
In my experience, it is better to go out and find interested buyers on your own, rather than waiting for somebody to notice it on the big boards like Sedo and Moniker.
When advertising them in forums it is best to list the following information in addition to the name itself:
Where it is registered
When it expires
Traffic stats
Your asking price
That brings us to another area of domain sales, PRICE.
First of all, domain appraisals are worthless. I always tell people "A domain name is only worth what somebody will pay for it"
It doesn't matter what an appraiser THINKS it is worth... it all comes down to the person writing the check (or sending paypal, or doing a wire transfer, etc) and what HE/SHE thinks it is worth the THEM!
I have sold domain names that I personally couldn't believe I even registered, but I have sold them for outragous prices!
In closing, give as much information as you can about the domain name and be HONEST about the information you give. If you are honest, you will sell more domain names and build a reputation in the DN community.
Good luck to you!
Mack
