What should I do with this domain name > WUSUP.NET

Hey all, I have been going back and forth on ideas for what to do with this domain (wusup.net). I was thinking a social networking site, or maybe a video upload site, but those kind fo sites have been beatin to death! So, I am clueless as to what to do with it.

You guys/gals have any suggestions?

To be honest, name is good for a social network site, but since you don't want to do it, use it for a blog.

I think I may go ahead and do the social networking site idea. I posted this question on a couple of other forums and everyone agrees that it should be a social networking site, so I'm going to try it.

Now the only question is, what target audience to go for. A couple people mentioned the 13-18 crowd which is ok, but the whole "underage" thing scares me, so I think I would be better off to target more of an adult crowd.

Then comes the question of what niche to go after. I could go for musicians, poets, IT/computers, whatever.

What do you guys suggest? Any hot new niches coming up that you have heard of? I haven't received this months issue of "Website Magazine" yet, so I haven't heard anything new. Speaking of which, I need to find out what's up with that, it should have been here by now

I don't know if that domain will have the same appeal to adults as it would to the 13-18 crowd.

I belive it will do just fine for a social Networking Site. Why are you thinking about niche ?

I would like to catch a niche so that it isn't so general. With just a basic social networking site I could never compete against MySpace or FaceBook. If I choose a niche like sports for example, then I have a better chance of gaining more visitors since it would cater to a certain audience.

I think you having a niche is pretty important for the reasons you mentioned above. My suggestion is to choose either sports or anime based on what interests you more.

buy some links get a decent pr and then bank in on selling the links on your blog and on articles

I actually like this domain name. And this coming for a guy still in his mid-20's that hasn't left the urban hip hop scene. I'm thinking to myself, if I was drinking a beer with a few friends and someone said, "Hey check out Wusup.com" what would come mind? Well here's my first mental thoughts:

* A video / audio rap site where amateurs can upload their flows
* A clothing store selling young urban street wear
* A website devoted to street racing
* A teenage message board / chat room
* A video / photo prank site. Kids submit video snapshots of their friends in embarrassing moments.

But yeah, niche is the way to go.

Gotta agree with Chris . . he pretty much said what I wanted to say. Those ideas would fit the name very very well.

And it would be much more unique then a social networking site.

Believe me there are a TON of them out there and the chances of yours succeeding are probably not that high because of the competition. . . so try to come up with a more unique idea.

If it comes down to it you can always sell.
