Registering a .it domain from the US

I'm reading conflicting info on whether or not it is possible to register a .it extension (Italy) without having a presence in Italy and whether or not it can be transfered to A US DNS without hassle.

Anyone know?

Exactly, and they have .it among the extensions they register.
I have noticed EuroDNS.com have recently launched a new version of their website and added several features like a bulk domain name search and the ability to restrict search on any given extension or top-level domain.
