Hi,
I am about to start working on a new website. At this point I am at choosing a domain name.
I was wonderring if I can chose a domain name that include a part of the name of a competitor that have huge traffic. would it help to get more traffic? can I do this.

Just to make sure I am clear, here is an exemple:
Immagine there is a website call Website Advertising with the url http://www.websiteadvertising.com.
Would it help to chose a domain name like: www.websiteadvertisingtips.com or www.greatwebsiteadvertising?

Thank you

I don't see why you can't. People all the time will buy names of mistake spellings of popular sites. To give you an idea misspell "fidelity.com" (it's a stock broker site)

You can, but just make sure what they're using hasn't been trademarked or you run the risk of facing TM issues. In many cases, companies have even trademarked 2 or more generic words used together. So just check to be sure.

Choosing the right domain names on a new site could really be of a big help in terms of ranking in the SE's.. Just make sure to limit your keywords so that it won't be hard to remember for the users.

as long as the domain name is available why not? it is okey to get a part of your domain name from your competitor.
