Thumbs down Can .co really kill .com?

Hi,

There is this news piece about .co domains. Probably, if Columbia gets this job done, .com and .co.uk will be under pressure What do you think. Is it anywhere near reality?

... if you are really interested in obtaining a domain under .CO, you can hurry up and register that domain under .COM.CO (if it is available) and this will allow to assure automatically that the same domain under the extension .CO will be yours. It is important to consider that the new domains are registered before this new policies are approved and that in Colombia it takes longer to have domains assigned because of the documents required.

That is a very interesting marketing trick People are called to take action to buy co.com domains and there is a link to that company site.

Very nice!

Considering how the .us domain didn't impact us much, I don't think this will do too much either. But then again, what do I know

Yea, since .us didtnt really have an impact, its not gonna matter. The .com's are like the Google of our internet, everyone uses it and its too famous to loose t something as awkward as .co .

I hope this will not be the case, because .com extension is much more higher ranked than .co extension.

I think there is something prospective in this extension. Fotr example some corporations may register .co for their sites.

I wonder if now .co.uk .co.in are availiable will that possible in future to register .co.co?))

I don't think .co will do anything, however that is quite the interesting trick in the article

If we can buy the popular keywords with .co domain, it could get us good traffic from typos. Other then that, I don't think any country specific tld is a threat to a universal .com.

Pleople typing "whatever.co" will want to finish that URL "whatever.com". It just looks so unfinished ".co" don't you think?

true, the .co looks kinda like a typo especially for those non-webheads that aren't familiar with all the various TLDs.

being a bit more tech minded then most you will notice the public trust .com .co.uk and in some cases .net alot more then forign domains ie . ca etc etc.

.co to take over .com give me a call when it does and ill jump off a bridge
