Which extension should I use - .com or .co.uk ?
Which domain name extension should I use?
I am designing a new web page with news, forum, chat, gallery etc. This is for the British and MAYBE in the future I will expand the website to include USA, Poland, Germany, Holland and some other countries.
I have checked the Domain Name and it is available with .com, .net and .co.uk (co.uk is UK extension) and other endings are also available.
Which extension should I use? Here, I am a bit worried about the search engine indexing.
Thanks

SEO have nothing to do with domain name name extension. They are both ok for that.
As for the extention choice I would go for the TLD not for ccTLD if your business not only for the local area. Go with the registrar which give your SEO bonuses, like sibername.com. So having domain name you will have also some SEO profit. But anyway decision is yours
Good luck

Buy all extension. Then setup your site with co.uk as it is targeted to UK visitors.
When you expand the website to other countries, use the related extension.

OK, I think I should write more.
1. Don't buy domains and hosting from one place. Don't put all your eggs in one basket.
2. Don't buy domains or hosting for any other benifits.

co.uk definitely since that is your initial target. Put yourself in a Brits shoes about contacting an american .com (typically) while in the UK. A lot of them don't even like us.

I agree with ZunuZunu and richinbox, .co.uk will indeed help you establish a local online presence in the UK and the European region.
However, I'd strongly suggest that you get a .co.uk as well as a .com domain as the latter will help you cater to a global audience too!

Why stop at .com?
Buy all the domain name extensions you can afford ; )

SEs will consider all domains in same way. But normally for typing and remembering .com is better

Maybe get .com and .co.uk for starters. Then you're at least covered for the two most relevant domains.
SEO is not important in this matter. The issue is getting customers to your site and not a competitor's.
I agree with shakir. .COM"s are best for remembering. You could always point your .co.uk to the .com. or vice versa.

If you have enough funds you'd better register both of them. That is not to expensive to hold 2 domain names nowadays. And then you will decide which one is core for you and which not and then simply redirect one to another.
Goos luck

My suggestion take both .co.uk and .com. Because if you buy .co.uk site, if your site get popularized then your competitor has a chance to buy .com and may turn ur traffic to his site. or else if you want to buy .com domain after one year to expand ur business world wide at that time the domain name with .com won't available for you.

if you target your traffic to UK then use .co.uk and if you want to go global use .com
