I recently built a system for work and tried to cut cost in some places. One of these was not including a dvd drive.. I know this is only approx £15 but it all adds up! I realised just how little I used one when I opened the disk tray on the old system and the cd was about 2 years old. I guess it depends on what you use your computer for.

Operating System - USB Drive (quicker than cd/dvd)
Software and drivers - online

Does anyone still use a DVD drive on a daily or even weekly basis? and what for?
