Need over wants

needs:
are the basic things we need..
like food, clothing, transportation.

wants:
gadgets, expensive cellphones, foods in a expensive resto, buying very huge house, etc.

There is a principle that I learned from the book 'Wealth'
it is said there that we should follow the Pareto principle or 80/20 principle.
From your income, the 80% will be used to satisfy our needs
and 20% will be our savings for our retirement.

Why did I say this? Because I am tired of buying things that I don't need, I have many stuffs in my room. I felt like, I wasted my money through those stuffs.
Instead of putting my money in a bank for an investment.

I'll update you guys about that book, on how to save our money right!

Forget about your own money, apply the concept to your marketing efforts. If your product/service/company can fall into the "need" domain instead of the "want", then your recession proof and you'll always be profitable...

Needs should be satisfy first than wants.In business,you need to work on different ways to get what you want which is money and earnings.

anyway, I agree with you suceedemail, because people nowadays avoid buying what they want, their priority is what they really need because it's definitely hard to earn money.
There's so many jobless college graduates right now here in our country, and most of them end up in call center jobs. I'm not saying that, being a call center agent is not good, what I am saying is, they will not be able to apply what they have been studied for.

But that's life...

Today's need may be of great difference than yesterdays because of the impact of today's living. We do not use much of our communication devices 20 years ago, but it is already a must for many of us today.

Oh my gosh! you are so true!!! I am laughing my out loud right now, your post just hit me hard -- I am cutting down my expenses you know, buying only what I need but I can't help going to the salon once a year to get my hair fixed.

That's why a lot of people join some "make money online" programs, which most of them doesn't really work they're just there to make you buy/sell their stuff so hey can earn more from outsmarting you.

You know mind I have a problem with spending on stuff I "want" rather than "need" it wasn't until I lost my job and decided to become a full time webmaster when I found the diffrence between want and need.

I need to make a living so I can buy what I want. We don't need much: food, shelter, clothing but we want a lot.

P.S. transportation is not a need. You can walk if you want.

Eventually, some wants are becoming a need. When I joined a beauty pageant before the question was: "Mobile Phones - A Need or A Want?" Wants are something that we can live without. Technologies like mobile phones and other communicating devices are used at work like maintenance, safety procedures, etc. to provide people a quality life. Using the word "need" in a sentence may be subjective but let's acknowledge the fact that some people really mean it.

I agree with Jenie, some wants can be considered as a need. It's sometimes hard to identify needs to wants. Like in love.
