What do you do when you can't sleep?
For whatever reason I am blessed with the curse of not being able to go to sleep easily 4 out of 7 nights during the average week. I literally get less than 4 hours of sleep on these days because I just can't doze off. Sleep medications don't even work. I occupy my time messing on my website(s), brainstorming and playing on forums. (Like right now!)
What do you do to pass the time when you can't sleep!

There is a method that has worked for me in the past...
I simply bang my head against the wall until I become unconscious...
There are two problems with this however...
1. It wakes everyone else up and then they cannot sleep
2. It tends to give you the worst headache

Lots of time this is me. I get a lot done too, but I think sometimes I would like to just sleep.

3. When you wake up, not only do you have bags under your eyes but bumps on your head.

I keep trying to sleep for whatever time I have decided for the sleep, there happened to me very few that if I am unable to sleep than I go for my site building. Don't know why but not able to do anything if unable to sleep. Next whole day goes waste for me then.

First of all leave all the work and enjoy stress free life.
Sleep is very important to have regularly.
Refresh your mind and you will be able to sleep. You should mediate too in the morning.
I like to read books or listen music when i do not get sleep.

mediate
v. intervene; reconciliate, help facilitate peace between two parties in a dispute; act as an intermediary between two parties to help bring about a desired result
Yup, I do that every morning that I am able...

I am right on board with the importance of sleep, but it just does not come easy to me all the time. My mind is also what keeps me up. I can't cut it off. No matter what I do. I have tried relaxation techniques, meds and just laying there in bed.
I actually find that I do some of my best work on the nights when I don't sleep. I guess it is because there is nothing to disturb me.
I've tried books, but I am not a big reader and they don't keep my interest and sadly I am prone to headaches while listening to music so that ends up messing me up worse. I think for me I am just not meant to sleep.

Sleeping pills didn't work for me either.
Basically, I don't sleep. I only go to bed when I'm exhausted.

I have had the same problem all my life. What tends to happen is a few nights where I get maybe 3 hours and they are usually interrupted with some clock watching, then a night of 6 hours which is just due to extreme fatigue. Some of us were just not designed to sleep 8 hours a night

I would love to, however I run my own business and it requires me to be available in the day to assist my clients.

After years and years of trying different things that is all I can do too. At least we know we are not the only ones.

lol. I can see in this being a tough trade off. No sleep or no wake??? Which to to choose?
I can't do that either though. I never acquired the taste for beer or other liquid spirits. Not to say that I did not try thought. In fact the last time I tried (many moons ago) I slept like a baby. Of course slept might be the wrong word for it.

When I can't sleep, I usually listen to music, lay down and relax.
