WHY are you here?
And by that I mean, being involved in IM - or any other business utilising the power, freedom and individuality of the Internet.
The world is out to trample all over you. Your life, your aspirations, your very soul. Pigeon-hole and typecast you into pre-defined roles and types....and expects you to shut up and stay there.
Your'e in the gigantic, institutionalised world of the corporate, organisational machine. The educational system, the political system that decides who our leaders are, even the jobs we work at seem to be designed for somebody else's benefit.....and somebody else's profit.
Some us though won't fit in. Won't stay put....and won't shut up.
Is this you? Been told you're not a "team player". Perhaps even lazy. Unfocused. Never amount to anything. Undisciplined. Trouble.
Because you can't stick the 9-5 treadmill. The dress codes, the five hundred page employee policy manual, or the institutional corporate speak, the anal performance reviews - but are expected to accept without question the cutbacks and layoffs when they inevitably come your way.
Other people who "mold" into this do well. When others like you and me don't fit in, we get punished. It's the way the system works.
You have never ever been allowed to do things in your business life to do the things you really want to do, exactly how you want to do them.
It's as if we've been forced, from a very young age, to do what others want us to do - to live someone else's life. You feel you've been conditioned, day in day out to do things that are not really important to you, trivial things that really don't matter...not to you at least. You've spent your precious energies and time producing "stuff" for other people that is incongruent and inconsistent with your personality, leaving the best of you, your most creative, ambitious self to express itself in the few hours you have left in the day, when you are run-down and the sun has started to set on your day's life force.
Can you relate to any of this?
I can. And I know why I'm here on a journey learning IM.
Just thought I'd share.
