World of Warcraft
World of Warcraft is a new MMORPG (massive multiplayer online role playing game) from Blizzard, the makers of WarCraft and StarCraft. WoW is currently in beta and, during the closed beta, you had to be approved. Now, they are getting closer to the open beta, preparing for the launch on November 23.
So does anyone have an account? My main character name is Chintori, level 5. You can find out more about WoW at worldofwarcraft.com. It's a lot of fun!

I'm not sure, I've never played Diablo. Is it online?

Both games are good but they are nothing alike (in my opinion). The Warcraft version I have is the Battlenet edition. Wish I had more time to play.

I want a game that you can build and trade and go to war only when you feal like it. Also has ships and and oceans. More like a real earth type game.

I love Warcraft.. It is one of the best games. Once I get into a mood to play it, I get so addicted that I can sit there for like 6 hours playing it.

The Battle.net version of Warcraft and WoW are very different. World of Warcraft is first person with one character, where as in Battle.net you are controlling an entire group of fighters.

Yes, that would be a lot of fun. I've tried a few "pirate" games on the ocean and none of them have been all that great.

Crazy to read this thread.
It's now 2 years later and World of Warcraft is the most popular online game in the world. With more than 9 million members. A true global phenomenon.

My son is completely obsessed with this game. He wants me to buy him a "character" for Christmas. He really thinks he can make a living by building up characters.
Crazy.

Oh my gosh. Don't do it.
I could send you a link to some of the videos of the chinese farming houses where they have as many as 15 or 20 people "playing" the games on 14 hour shifts every day. There are many of these operations in China. These chinese "gold farmers" as they are known sell the items, gold, and characters they create online. It's an awful business and really slave labor. They charge real money for the virtual gold.
The game is fun and can be addicting for it's social and structured hierarchy, but I'd be careful.
I've been playing less recently. It gets quite time consuming.
