What's the future of books?

Recently was discussing the question with my friends, so wanted to know your opinion.Do you think the books will die out (I mean paper ones) in future, and will our children read them or just use the internet to find some info?

Books will never die out. i enjoy buying books and rading compared to reading digital books cause i feel they ruin your eyes and something is lost in the illustrations when digitised.

I feel it would be phased out eventually. I watched that invention of that ultra thin, flexible LCD strips -- this might be the start.

Quality paper books will never die. But ever growing use of digital books is reality of present days.

I don't think paper books will ever die because you just can't beat the feeling of having a book in your hand. The sony reader and similar products just don't have the same feeling, the lose some of the romance about reading.

I strongly believe that paper books won't disappear as still very many people refer paper books to ebooks. It's necessary to feel the book while reading.

My professor said that there's gonna be a "paper less society" since technology is here to stay and even more powerful. They're now e-books, online sites, blogs, ads, news, communication tool.
But i don't want it to be happen, i still prefer a pen and paper, a book regardless of how small or big, fictional or based on a true story. I like the thrill of having my fertile mind do the story from the books i read, its more enjoyable and relaxing rather than book based movies.

When using reference material I find the digital approach superior.

When reading for entertainment, which I do at least a few minutes per day, I prefer the printed matter. It is really difficult take hold the monitor while laying on my side in bed. I prefer paperbacks over hard cover books for the same reason.

I also find in difficult to carry my electrononic newspaper to the john. TMI.

Books will never die out. However I think that eventually the eBooks will surpass paper books as the internet has now become the main source of information.

Personally I prefer an electronic book to a real one. I dunno why but it's quite comfortable to be able to carry 100 books on a single portable device smaller than a book instead of having to carry the books themselves.

I do think books as we know them today, will die out eventually, but they'll still be around for a long long time.

Used to listen to music on 78 rpm records, then 33 rpm, then 45 rpm.........

Now it is very difficult to find a turntable (it is used to play records)lol

The sound quality of a good CD is awesome.....

In 1962. It took me many many hours to do the research for a term paper. A lot of trips to the library. Today it is all available right here in my living room....Hmmmm...

Paper books won't die, the spirit of it will still remain and the big archive of those hard bound books will always remain and can be found in the library. Even ebook are all around the corner of net, nothing will replace the fun and excitement in moving of every pages of a book. Its one of a kind experience while you enjoy reading and learning at the same time.

I remember when i was a kid, Mom used to read me a story book before going to sleep. The fun of colorful pages and happy ending of stories will still remains in my memory and will even in my dreams even now.

I have tried reading ebooks... I got to about page 10 and wanted to tear my eyes out. I love the idea of having the option to carry around hundreds of books in a reader, but the reality is that unless the resolution of these readers becomes perfect, they will always cause the eyes strain.

Paper is here for a long time to come I believe...

Books will never go out of style. Books are used for many centuries to provide knowledge and entertainment. Most of the movies nowadays are come from the books like Harry Potter, Star Wars, Twilight, Lord of the Rings and many more. Before they create these movies they read the entire book and understand it's concept, so books still have a bright future and it will never fade.

future books?
I think, the book is always there and made, and that with the times, thought patterns, and the current human desires that can be said to have no boundaries anymore. so, the future of books is the book to be read by people who want to read.
