2010 New Year's Resolutions
I can barely believe that we have nearly come to the end of 2009. Where the heck does the time go? With 2010 rapidly approaching, I am curious how many of you will make New Year's resolutions?
Do you use the new year as an opportunity to evaluate where you are in life and perhaps adjust the path you are on to reach your goals?
If you set resolutions last year, do you feel you made some progress on those goals? Why or why not?
Weight loss products, fitness centers, and smoking cessation programs seem to do more business this time of year than the whole rest of the year combined, only to see a hefty percentage of people abandon their resolutions within weeks. Why do you think that is?

Yeah, times goes on so fast and the speed is getting even bigger as you're getting older.
This yeah I think I've managed to complete my goals, as I quited my previous job, and that was not so easy, found another one and pretty happy with it.
As for 2010, I have huge plans: I'll work harder to afford byuing a car and start saving up for my own appartments; I'll keep to a healthy diet, that I've already started, by the way and may be even join dance courses

Mine ts to be all I can be! No wait... that's not it...
Honestly, I never make resolutions anymore because it always ends up to be another failure. Its always a great source of inspiration and the intentions are valid. But after a month or two it always ends up the same because life is all about habits, both good and bad.
Sure Id like to lose 30 pounds and eat better, exercise and develop abs, and spend more time with my family. The problem is that the normal daily grind coupled with the fact that I'm just a fat lazy selfish lump of poo are all major hindrances in my limited quest to resolve my issues
My real resolution is to just be me (which I have managed to do for most of my life)

Did you happen to notice that the topic did not involve asking you what your resolutions are?

Maybe because they are lacking of self decepline in able to do what have promise not to do. People tend to do things they wanted to change in their life in a shorter time because they can't maintain to do it for their whole life within the year. I know someone who who says last year that he will go for a diet program but after a month he left the program and do his old ways of eating. Poor old man he even doubled his weight from last year.

I am always saying these word "procrastinate", and every year that's my resolution. Though sayings "expect the unexpected". I always end up being late, an instant celebrity almost everyday in the office, a full lists of lates and tardiness plus a bonus of charity! hahaha.. So.. Procrastination is again my resolution! Try and try until i succeed!!

Okay, so how about if instead of replying to what you thought this thread was about based on the title, you read and respond to the questions I posted for this discussion?

I used to make end of year resolutions a few years ago but they didn't work for me, after a few months I realized that I lost focus.
The only thing that works for me is evaluating my goals constantly, every month or week.

I made a few resolutions and they have not worked. Why? Maybe because I did not write them down. And mainly because I lost focus, mixed up my priorities and forgot to give time tor myself. Pretty simple reasons, but I have not one single resolution that I have fulfilled.
Usually, on Jan 1st I try to evaluate and set resolutions, but its with a mindset that anyway I am going to forget them, so my purpose is defeated there itself.

I have never been successful in keeping up with a New Year's Resolution up till now. Infact i can't even remember what my resolution for the year 2009 was, i guess...uhhhh...can't remember
However, for the coming year 2010 i plan to keep no resolution. I guess just taking each day as it comes is the best way to go about

Yeah time goes by so fast and I can't believe that I'm almost one year in this field. And I'm thankful that 2009 is a good step to discovered online marketing. So I can say that this is an achievement. And I'm learning the process of SEO.
My new year resolution is to become more dedicated in my work. I want to achieve a good rankings in Google especially my twitter followers. And I do hope so that I'm doing the right process.

Wow. If you'd like I can slap them around a little bit and give them some reading lessons? lol.
I try to re-evaluate my life, my path, and my choices on a regular basis. I don't think the end of the year is any excuse to slack the rest of the year like everybody else. It seems that people think if they focus on all the good things they want to do in a short period of time, the exclusive focus during this time will rectify their shortcomings the rest of the year.
Why do people buy into diet programs, stop smoking pills, laser therapy etc during this time? The societal influences through media and otherwise get people thinking and focusing on these matters at this particular time of the year. Television shows we watch start showing the characters in the same time of year and making resolutions... Newscasters start talking about it... Friends start asking you... It's just like a fad. You pump something up enough and get enough people doing it with you, and boom, everybody's talking about it. As soon as people stop talking about it it's done.
I don't know if that's what you were looking for, but at least I read the thread and replied on topic ;-)

Ummm...let me see if I can answer this "on topic"
In my view resolutions and goals are not necessarily identical. Of the two I think that goals are the stronger term. Goals are supported by a plan of action, are monitored constantly, evaluated on a regular basis, correct & proceed.
Yes, I take this time of year to evaluate where I am today vs where I began the year in many areas of my life including business, income, fitness etc. Based on where I am draw up a plan for the coming year --- some things need a lot more planning and attention than others, they are the ones that I have greater control over, vs something general like "happiness" - nothing ever specific from the kumbaya crowd, they're just "happy" and want to do everything in their human power to make everyone else happy no matter what it takes ... gawd, save me from those perpetual smilies...oh, I think I'm getting off topic and will no doubt get smacked... ok, that is my 2 cents worth.

It is a very good start to start the year with some plans that you think you can achieve throughout the year. So yes, I take it as an opportunity to take the right path and achieve my goals in a certain period of time.

I made a few progress but the majority of my new years resolution last year didn't worked out well. I tried hard to work things out, but peer pressure and self discipline killed it. So I think it is really a matter of discipline and focus to achieve results.

Boom boom pow. Weight loss products, fitness centers, and smoking cessation programs didn't worked out on me. I didn't actually abandoned it. But I failed trying.
I need more focus and self discipline for 2010.

Yes, i had some progress with my resolutions that I've made last year. I had a list of things that I must do something I want to achieved. I think its better for us to create a things-to-do list for 2010 and lets re-checked if these things were successful. If not, we can consider to list it again and analyze it with ourselves what happened why we failed to achieved it.

People need to focus. These are just a one-two weeks resolution. Weight loss products are just around the corner.
