Romance On A Budget? Is It Possible?

A threads recently have left me amused that so many people think happiness in a relationship come down to the money involved, so I have a challenge for you . . .

Can you plan a truly romantic date or outing (keep it clean folks) and spend less than fifty bucks? Tell us about it . . .

You can choose between two scenarios to describe:
  • Romantic first date or outing
  • Romantic date or outing with your spouse
Extra points for creativity . . .

Romantic spots

simple.. pack a lunch or snack or just something to drink that can be made like some ice tea and head for a local vista spot.... for us short range are the Inlet, Potter Marsh area, and Arctic Valley Road not quite to the ski resort but close to the top where there's a beautiful view. Further out is Hatcher's Pass and Summit Lake or even Wasilla Lake can be pretty too.... Basically anyplace in nature and out of the city but not very far which isn't hard to do! Take a couple blankets and some bug spray unless it's winter... if winter then just lay the seats back depending on the car! >:-D

BTW those are all places within about 60 miles of Anchorage, Alaska and they are all drop dead gorgeous!

For San Francisco (I grew up in the city) I'd want to head to the beach, Halfmoon Bay, Fisherman's Warf to just walk or Gherideli Square. Golden Gate Park has some lovely hidey holes if you go far enough in on the trails. Prettiest spots there are the Japanese Tea Garden in spring and the Holland Garden (don't remember it's exact name but there's a big windmill there). Only thing for me and SF is it being socked in with fog or overcast so have to be there in the spring or summer!

Portland had a beautiful park on a hill that was just beautiful too and would make a great place to find a secluded spot.

Star Gazing at night! (in a park, or at your backyard)

All you have to do is to sit or prepare some snacks (junk foods) and watch the stars at night. You can set up a picnic mat and start enjoying the night together.

I'd choose a romantic date, but I don't think my spouse would approve.

I think the park is a fantastic idea. Some wine, some cheese and crackers and maybe mix in a puppy. The fresh air, the sites, the sounds, and the smells. Just be sure to clean up after her. The puppy, that is.

In a lighthouse with a little bit of serenade of your favorite song (or your theme songs if you want to), a flower and a sweetest words of how much you love the person by giving the beacon light a description to the person.

I think 50 buck are enough to plan some romance even at home or to have a small outing. The only problem is that people don't want to use their imagination and to make something with their hands.

A club and a cave come to mind

I know, I know... my problem is that I'm just too damned sensitive and romantic...

You don't need to have money to be able to have romance, it's just a material item. Romance should come from the heart, not the wallet.

I already did in my previous statement, in an indirect way.

You may have responded to the title of the thread, but unless I am blind, I am pretty sure you missed what was asked in the thread.

A trip to the top of Blackpool tower and a bag of fish and chips... with the right patter that could work and it would only cost you about $15 per head.

Spending time with your love one could not be the costly..You can just have a picnic at a park, bring some snacks and drinks..Lay on the grass, look up on the sky, watch some formation of the clouds, and if it is already night..you and your partner can go star gazing..

Another one, setting up a dinner..Cook food for you and for him/her..Set up the table like on those romantic restaurant..Put candles and flowers on the table, play some romantic songs as your background..And if you are a guy, when she arrives give her flowers..3 pieces will do..

Come on guys. This is an easy one. I frequently joke around here about wives and girlfriends. But sometimes you have to play the game.

Quote:
Romantic date or outing with your spouse
Turn off the television and the computers some day when you are the first person home.
Unplug the phone or turn off the ringer, same for cellphones.
Set the table and use candles, it does does not have to be fancy. It can even be the kitchen table.
Extra nice touch is to buy some flowers for no special day.
Have food and beverage prepared (purchased in a pinch or if you can't cook )
Greet her at the door and take her to dinner without interruptions.
Listen more than you talk but talk also.

Now back to my regular form:
About now she will be wanting to hear what you did or to whom.

Sorry I could not play it straight for a whole darn post
