Obama to End NASA Constellation Program

Do you think it is a good thing? And why?

On the eve of the fullest moon of the year, NASA scientists were told they won't be able to visit any longer. In his new budget, President Obama plans to eliminate the space program's manned moon missions.

Space research is an expensive business. Even the Americans can't afford to do it these days. It is no surprise. Only groups of nations cooperating together will be able to achieve the big projects like building a base on the moon. Independent non-government private businesses may take on the smaller space activities such as satellite launches, but exploration will have to take a back seat while the global economy is stuck in the mire.

Sad but true. NASA will just have to come to terms with what it does not being a priority. I suspect anything with the NASA label cost three or four times as much anyway. Maybe the economic difficulties it is suffering now will help it get its act together in that respect.
