My my my, what an interesting thread.
But before I crack my knuckles and get started here, what a good point Taltos brought up. My wife and I were just talking about how the increasing use of phones to browse the web would affect web design.
Soooo anywhoooo...*cracks knuckles*
Cricket, do you have any tattoos?

This is great! -- I have a kind of serious question -- it's not SEO really - but I'm trying to find something but I don't what it's called so I don't know what to search for in order to find out who does it or how to find out how to do it myself...
When a website has a "thing" - an feature - where you can give people a password and they can log on to your website and see pictures you took of them and make options to purchase (or not) -- what is that feature called?
The other thing I was looking for was a way for people to be taken automatically to a purchased image for download rather than waiting for me to email it? (Is that a shopping cart feature?) LOL -- I haven't received any responses to my emails when I emailed a site owner that had that stuff going on on their site-- I was thinking it was a trade secret or something.
Thanks Cricket -
(LoL - I really liked the "Your Chirp'ness" comment up there by DocC-- that was pretty good)
and lastly --- I know this is 3 questions but: If you go to the dessert on a photo shoot take me with you?)

Tattoos can be so many things, a sort of fashion thing, trendy like clothes and jewelry. They can be a tribal thing, connecting with a group or gang, or they can be very symbolic and private, with deep spiritual meanings.
Some people have them.
Some people don't.
I fall into one of the above categories.

You can easily password protect any page on your site through the control panel of your hosting company. Hit me up on messenger and I will show you how.

Smiles . . . No, not a trade secret.
Do a Google search for Digital Product Delivery or Automatic Digital Product Delivery and you will find quite a few options, many of which can be integrated into the payment method you are already using.

I was looking at some pictures of Arizona yesterday and was totally blown away by the pure beauty. Wouldn't it be a blast for a few of us to get together for a road trip and capture some of the magic?

Ah... Cricket is preserving that air of mystery that real Texas ladies know drives men nuts! Now, my imagination will be running wild, visions of bangmarks in the shape of a cowboy hat, or a tribal "Hook em!"
Move over, Sophia Loren and Gina Lolabrigida... no room for you any longer! You're both.....
obsolete!

Okay, Cricket...
Let's take a step back in time. When you were a young girl, what did you want to be when you grew up?
(I'm bettin' it had somethin' to do with cowboys!)

When I was little, I was never really sure what I wanted to be, I only knew that I wanted to grow up to be just like my daddy.
Heck, I am still not not sure what I want to be when I grow up!
P.S. I think I always thought I wanted to be a teacher or a writer . . .

Darn, I can't ask the fun questions cause Cricket actually wanted me to ask something serious.... <pout>
At what point do you throw in the towel on a hand coded site because it's huge, unwieldy but doing well SEO wise?
What are the best ways to scale back a site that the creator went overboard on w/o sacrificing SEO for the overall site?
Dang can't resist.... Kahlua & Coffee or Jack & Coke?

WOW! I like this question a lot because it is one I am currently dealing with.
There is a whole lot more to a site being financially successful that just doing well in the search engines, but let me ask you this . . .
Why do you have to choose?
Basically it comes down to two things to consider. - Is it doing well financially? (If so, leave it alone)
- Can you improve the site without losing the SEO advantages.
If it is not doing well financially, then it does not matter how well it is doing in terms of SEO, it is time to make some changes. Often times we can trim the time needs to a site by making things more dynamic, but this is going to require some coding abilities so that you can still fully control the titles, file names, heading, content, etc.
It would help me to respond to your question better if I knew exactly what it is you want to accomplish.
P.S. Definitely Kaluha, but I prefer it in cream.

When I watched Mississippi in my rear view mirror, I swore I would never return, but you and Heide finally getting hitched would definitely make me reconsider that vow. I would love to share that day with y'all!

I'm looking at the 200 page doll site that I did my SEO on back in 2005 and then put on a back burner in 2006 until now thanks to school and life. It's too big, with IMHO too many pages and I want a better design but do NOT want to do all 200 pages again!! The SEO has had it bring in just under $500 a yr each year with me doing nothing but in the past when I changed the site in major ways it made more money.... guess cause I talked more about it and was active.
I guess my goal here is to bring it to a more manageable size for maintenance (broken links and such), cull items that aren't selling or haven't ever sold, and just bring it into the next decade w/o it taking me 3 months of work to do it all via having to rework buy buttons and everything. My second goal is to have it do it's "thing" like it has these last 4 years so that I can go back to being creative and not have a lot to do to make a new page or two for an item.
I've toyed with making it dynamic but have never seen all the connections in the programming that take a database and deliver it to the browser... I know how it all works in theory and understand the languages and code but I guess I'm chicken to do a MySQL database and connect it to HTML with the CSS doing the hard work of arranging the display. I always seem to put it off for one reason or another.
Now I'm looking at building a couple other sites in hopes of repeating the PIGS thing but I want to try to do it right the first time instead of the massive learning curve I went through with the dolls! I plan and plan and plan for this stuff and then never act....hmmmm
Goal... rebuild/rework dolls so that it's lean SEO, do the whole site right the first time for the next site!
Ya wanted a serious question... there ya go!
