*Bronx Tale (I love Chaz Palmintieri)
*Man Who Would Be King
*House of Games
*Man Facing Southeast
*Maltese Falcon
*Casablanca
*Postman Always Rings Twice
*Gaslight
As you can see, I like classics very much. Anything with Bogart or Barbara Stanwyck. Woody Allen's early movies.
I like films where there were actual stories that did not rely on explosions, etc. and where the performers showed a range of emotions.

My favorate film of the last year or so is " City of God" (Almost as good as Scarface!). You can read my review here http://www.futuremovies.co.uk/review.asp?ID=107
Memento was probably my best thinking film experience .

I love that one, too. And Saving Private Ryan.

I didn't know that that wasn't an original .. I'll have to check it out, and the others that you mentioned also.
I just finished Pulp Fiction ... a little screwy but entertaining, and Bronx Tale ... a bit boring but not too bad. I liked the realism.
Doing Shawshank tonight.

Warning "Open Your Eyes" and "City of God" are both subtitled but fantastic!
You have to see Pulp Fiction again some time cos it gets better (may want to fast forward some parts). Saving Private Ryan and Shawshank are classics.
Donnie Darko is a classic cult film (I actually met the director in his hotel room).
Dark City is a good alternative to The Matrix.
Directors cut of Blade Runner is good if you like real Sci-Fi.
Summary of my favs said:
Open Your Eyes
City of God
Saving Private Ryan
Shawshank
Donnie Darko (non directors cut)
Memento
Dark City

Can't say I have any one favourite movie but here's my short list:
Brotherhood of the Wolf (Best French Film ever IMO, Really Good Story!)
Iron Monkey (Fav HK Martial Arts Movie, Like over-the-top kung fu?!)
The Blade Trilogy (Fav Comicbook Movies, not true to the marvel comic but still has me smiling when I watch it, at least more than the others!)
Equilibrium (Coolest Post-Apoc concept I've seen, plus amazing action sequences, trust me worth the watch, has both plot & action..*shock*)
Shaun of the Dead (Fav Romantic Comedy with Zombies)
Evil Dead Trilogy (Drop Dead Funny... sorry couldn't resist! Horror classics!)
Love Actually (Just Brilliant! Intelligent, funny and close to the heart!)
The Princess Bride (Fav Fairytale movie!)
