Question New 3D Televisions

It appears that these are taking the television market by storm. Regular LCDs are already going down and movies are being prepared by the hundreds.

What do you all think of this? Is this the "next big thing"?

I am extremely happy about it... not because I have any plans in getting one, but because all those 50 LCD and Plasma TV's are going on sale - I might just upgrade my 42" plasma soon

3D T.V is awesome, i have some football(soccer) games in 3D at the pub and it is as near to being at the game as you can get without being there. I will certainly look into buying one once all the bugs are out of them

Certainly sounds cool but only if we don't have to wear daft glasses to view in 3D! I'm going to the flicks this week to see my first 3D movie 'Clash of the Titans' - really looking forward to see how it looks

IMHO, wait about 4-5 years. First of all the new ones will have tons of bugs/problems. secondly, the price is probably going to be astronomical. I remember looking at a 60" Plasma about 5-6 years ago..They wanted $10,000 for it (!) I can get the same TV today for about $2,500. Be patient my young Jedis

Ditto that!
I'm not joining the 3D revolution anytime soon, but the news is great for those of us who may be looking to buy a new 2D TV.

The 3d t.v. looks good but i am going to keep my Plasma t.v. till it stops working. Besides, i'd have no room to put a new t.v. in my apartment.

Maybe i'll convince a family member to buy one and i'll go over there once and awhile to watch t.v.

I 'am about to buy the 42" plasma samsung tv. but the sales agent told me about the power consumption of plasma is the same as tube tv. so better if i buy 32"lcd tv.

is it true?

3D tvs have actually been around for a long time. They've just recently been very popular due to hit 3D movies like avatar. I personally think it would be annoying to have to wear glasses in my house to watch tv.

That might not be completely true... read this...
When I bought my Plasma it basically came down to which one I thought has the better picture. For my money, plasma is better picture wise but it does have a glare in bright rooms. If I were to buy a TV for a very bright room with many windows, I would have gone with LCD.

The Japanese have been broadcasting in 3D since 2008, apparently. So this is just another lame attempt of ours to keep up with them.

I was thinking about buying 50" LCD TV since a few years ago. However, a huge dropped price 80% I saw yesterday almost makes me nuts. "What would I do if I had bought them before?".

The technology of television go much faster than I ever expected. I have seen the jump in PC monitor technology but TV had frozen for a very long time until the last 4 years . I would no wonder if I could wait for the price to be dropped again as I think the new technology is almost reach its peak anyway. I cannot imagine how "Qualities" of the future TV technology could be.
