I had felt this once when I was completely failed with my works. I was thinking about not different between living with fails and die. However, I glad I had passed hardest time in the life already.

I'm afraid of dying from accident. If die without pain, then I will not afraid.

I share the feelings of many, in that I wouldn't want to suffer a painful or debilitating disease or injury, but death itself doesn't frighten me. It's just part of the normal cycle, and worrying about it or being fearful of it will do no more than lessen the quality of my life.

Birth and death are the only two things that we ALL have in common. I prefer to focus on what I can accomplish between those two events.

No I'm not. I'm just being realistic because we are all going there, it is just a matter of acceptance and being prepared when that time comes. Hopefully i have fullfilled a lot when my time comes.

I used to think I wasnt afraid of it, but that theory was tested on some killer (literally) white-water a coupla years ago. My academic non-chalance didnt stand up in practice. In a life or death situation there's a pretty powerful drive for self-preservation that kicks in, and I'm pretty sure I'd have clubbed puppies to death with a bat if it woulda got me one more breath above the waterline.

Coming close to dying is excellent exercise for the humility. Mine needed a reality check, and got it. Exercise a lot more respect for the river now than I used to.

True. It's easy to SAY we're not afraid of something, but talking about it and facing it are two very different things.

In the final analysis, I think it's a rare individual that can face death calmly and accept it without any desire to fight it. Like you said, it's instinctive. I've had a couple of brushes, and I sure didn't kick back and accept it.

Indeed... I had an ulcer back when I was 19, and got hospitalized. Retrospectively, I wasn't in a real near-death situation, but, at times, I did feel close enough to really contemplate death. I can't say that I wasn't scared at the thought of it. So, I will be scared, no matter the circumstances, if I have the time to realize it is happening. I just wish it comes fast and relatively without suffering.

"Minor surgery" is an operation that's being performed on somebody else. All others are "major surgery".
