Thumbs down We Have Not Forgotten Sept. 11, 2001

Where were you the morning our nation came under attack?

Do you remember your thoughts?

Your feelings?

Did you spend the day glued to the television waiting for news?

This thread dedicated to the memory of the lives lost on Sept. 11, 2001 and not the place for controversial or disrespectful comments.

It is simply a time to remember....

Oh gee. I thought it was September 11th when I saw your post...
I remember I was grade 4 when this tragedy happened.
The whole school stopped operating and we all watched the news channel together....
My uncle actually works at the building but he lucked out because he took a day off work.

May the victims rest in peace.

I thought I lost my husband that day. He was on a plane to DC at that exact time. I was on my way to take my oldest to his Mother's Day Out program. The radio station I was listening got confused and thought there might be a plane from Dallas that had crashed in the Pentagon when it was talking about Dulles. I remember looking at my boys - a toddler and 7 month old and feeling numb. I broke down when the teacher asked if I was ok. I came home, turned on the TVs and started calling bosses and family. When he arrived in DC he knew nothing...the diverted his plane and when he went outside he had no cell phone reception. He had to ask someone on the street what happened.

I will forever feel for everyone involved and everyone who did lose their loved ones. It will be a day that will never be forgotten.

We will never forget the innocent lives lost...nor will we forget the soldiers we have lost since. Be safe in Iraq Roo Roo. Dave & Bill lead your troops home safe to their families. Thank you to all who have served and continue to do so.

I was still laying in bed and just turned the tv on. I watched in shock for a couple of hours calling my family and friends making sure everyone was okay.

Two really good videos to start this thread.

I left the house to go to my first job of the day with no knowledge of the events. I swallowed hard while listening to the radio as I continued to that job where I made a really politically incorrect comment.

As I did the job we all watched the second tower struck and the fall. All of us were numb.

The rest of the day after the job, I watched and waited for more news.

The thing I recall the most of my personal experiences is the complete lack of background noise on the night of 9-11. The interstate was quite. Most of the local businesses closed early; there were no customers and people wanted to be close to loved ones, not at work. There were no planes in the air. The one time fly-over of military planes was the exception. I live in the burbs, about 1/4 mile off I75. I have never heard it so quite.

Two dates I have lived through are burnt into my mind, 9-11-2001 and 11-22-1963. I still recall them both and one of them was a long time ago.

It is simply a time to remember....
This is a day that both myself and my parents will never forget.

Sept. 11th is my parents wedding anniversay. A few days before this day, my dad had a major surgury and was in the hositpal for 2 weeks. I was already helping my dad out with his wedding anniversay present to give to my mom even though he was healing up. So i woke up at 6 a.m. got ready for work because i was going to work afterwards (bring the gifts to him) in the morning anyways.

I was in my dad's room talking to him to kill some time before leaving and well to get his spirits up while watching the news. We watched the whole thing unfold on the t.v. and both of us including the nurse that was in the room was in complete shock. It's hard to describe how we was feeling at that moment.

The company i work for had an account with a firm in one of the towers, we lost one "on-site" technican. Our company did a disaster relief shift for 2 weeks working 7 days a week, 24 hours a day configuring pc's, laptop's, servers..we had to get our client's business up and rolling and fast. I worked 14 hour days for 1 week straight because i wanted to do my part in helping out the client get there business back to normal. We raised a lot of money for our fellow tech's family.

My parents have stopped celabrating there wedding anniversay on Sept. 11. Just to many memories popup on this date for them.

BTW, i never went to work that day. Spent the day with my dad and soon there-after my mom.

I was in lower Manhattan driving to a cell site on the roof of a pizzeria right across from the south tower. After the first plane, i immediately turned around and headed back uptown and called my wife. Told her to get my son out of school.

I'm making a blog post tomorrow with all of my photos I have of my trip to the WTC in 1986. I went there with a friend after coming home from the Army on leave. I never lost those pictures from that day.

Not being in the US, I probably saw it a lot different and perhaps felt different.

It was around 2am in the morning here and we had gone to bed. I woke up to go for a drink and the TV had been left on. I saw the plane hit the building and remember thinking that it looked an interesting show, i may as well stay up and watch it.

Within a minute or so, it became obvious that it wasnt a TV Show, but in fact a real life event, unfolding before my very eyes.

I woke my wife up and she too, came out and watched it. I will always remember watching in disbelief.............the world changed that day

I was watching the morning news and having a cup of coffee.....

My first thoughts were utter shock....I could not believe what I was seeing....

After a few hours, I felt a great anger at anyone who could kill so many innocent people....

They were playing this song as people prepared for our 9/11 Heroes Walk here in Universal City, Texas. There were a lot of tears flowing, my own included....

Such an incredible feeling watching the people of our town, families, coming together to remember.

I am very proud to be an American. ♥
