Got a T1 connection? Linux (a free O/S based on Unix) is I'd guess about a CD's worth to get anything half decent so thats 500MB or so to start with then a massive learning curve as Linux ain't anything like Windows.

Not entirely sure what netstat does, but netstat -an gives port numbers on mine next to the IP address - win XP version.

Netstat will not give you someones IP on AIM when you chat to them unless they AOL is thier default ISP which they must pay for. You will probably get AOL host and client IP.

In order to get an IP this usually involves a direct connection to the person your trying to get the IP off, try sending a large download, once accepted track IP then cancel download. That is an example of establishing a direct connection the to the person you want the IP off.

There offcourse an easier way to get an IP Me, JS and a few other forum owners know this one
