Emigration

Anyone here ever emigrated? Or even moved away in their own country to somewhere completely different?
I have only 42 days left in Ireland before I move away for university. Only going 45 minutes in plane away, but still! The UK is a different place! Should be fun though, no more family, complete independence, free to do anything whatsoever. And of course the whole drunken fun student life. Been looking at the first week timetable, lots of events on, including pub crawls. Looking forward to this loads! I've met some people in Scotland going to the same university and we have formed a band, so will be gigging about the UK, that should be fun too
Now to find some money...

Yes. I moved (hitch hiked) 1528 miles south of where I'm from (NE USA) and stayed 9 months when I was 20 y/o, and three years ago I moved 1185 miles southwest of where I'm from, and am still residing here. The weather is much warmer down here and there's no snow in winter.

That's a pretty big move. Why did you go there for 9 months when you were 20? Was it for work or something?

I went looking for America with a couple of buddies. We didn't find it.

We were young and restless. It was quite an experience, I was offered a job as a stud. I turned it down.

Yes, and lots of weed and shrooms too. Shrooms grow out of cow dung in the mornings down there.

They don't grow anywhere where I'm from up north. The conditions aren't right. Psilocybin mushrooms.

I wouldn't mess with them today. I've had my fill of psychedelics. They are quite an experience to say the least, though, and not one that I would condemn or condone, but I would, however, discourage sustained use of them.

Cow dung is just a medium, they can grow in dirt too. They grow in older dung, not fresh. Cow manure is great fertilizer. Many of the veggies we eat are fertilized with cow manure. It is spread every year at a specific time before planting.

Yeah.
But don't think I would want any, have dabbled with things in the past, had things spiked with hallucagens, seen trees falling around me, seen people walking about who aren't really there...not the best thing.
I prefer being drunk and falling over people on sofas in the bar

Tell me about it. This place STINKS of cow dung. Farmers around this area spray it everywhere, gets on my nerves!

Yeah, it's not for everyone. Me, I have tried just about everything. I'm the type that wouldn't even think twice .. just try it.

Ok, so if I ever bump into you on a birthday or something, is my best bet to get you a present of some aircraft cable and a nice bucket of dung?

No, I didn't eat the dung, only the shrooms, and I don't do them anymore. I only did them maybe a half dozen times. Also, I do not have a winch or even a 4x4 at this time, so I wouldn't have a use for the cable.

Well, what you could do is use the cable to make lines on the ground, then spread dung along them...
And lol id be a bit worried if you ate the dung!!!

I think that you are making a wise decision to further your education.
