Today I found out that computers for classrooms will take old routers, modems, cables, graphics card, sound card and any other computer related equipment whether it works or not and re-use them in class rooms. They also took my old phone headset.

I learned that when it comes to grandbabies, it does not matter if they have your blood in them or not. The feeling when they hug you and say "I love you Grandma" is exactly the same. This precious lil girl was born to be my grandbaby and I have loved her from the first moment she looked up at me and said, so you are gonna be my grandma, huh?

Rather a late start than no start

I will be basing this challenge on personal growth, and posting what I learn on my Sharing Insights blog.

This is my introductory to the challenge, and also where I will be listing what I have learned each day (with a link to the relevant post):
What I Have Learned Today (WIHLT)

The first thing I have learned is where in my life I have found the golden thread of clues pointing to my joy of sharing personal growth insights:
WIHLT: How to find the clues to your joys

I learned about waterfall and incremental software development methodologies.

A waterfall methodology is a linear process, you first gather information and document, then design the system, then create the system, then test the system etc. completing each step before moving onto the next one.

An incremental methodology is iterative, you gather initial information, but then develop the application in stages, getting constant feedback from the client and making it easy to change on the fly.

I learned about snap, crackle, pop! I made a thread so you can play, too:

Ack! Pop, Bang, Buzz, Blooper! Writing With Words that Sound Like What They Mean.

Which reminds me ... if you learn something that just doesn't seem to fit with your blog's topic or style, making a thread in the forum could be a fun way to engage others in your learning process.

Shazzam! What a whopping good idea!

in support of my video production learning goal ...

Today I learned how to manage audio tracks separately from video in iMovie, and to do fade-outs and fade-ins. Also, I learned how to daisy chain additional external high-speed drives/devices (such as back-up drives and video cameras) which will save me spending $'s on firewire hubs (saving me about $40 a pop).

Today I learned just how difficult and time consuming it is to write how-to directions for making something, even something simple like a yarn button. But my readers asked for details, so they got 'em!

I also learned, again, how to change the font size in my blog. Probably the hard way!

Today I was researching time saving tips for small business owners. I kept reading about the obvious time wasters, when it dawned on me, it's not the big stuff that kills me. It is the million little things that add up! I wrote about it on the V7N blog. I would love it if you would take a moment to comment on the topic there!

I learned today that students get concessions when joining political parties in this country, and I'm now a proud member of the Liberal Democrat Party.

Am I in the right place? I hope so. Today I learned that orchids commit suicide, or would that be planticide? My source is a guru with our local orchid society, so it must be true. I am relieved to know this because I love my patio flowers, but I adore my orchids. Was I taken this too personally? Prolly.

I found that I rely on the internet a lot more than I thought. Yesterday we lost internet all day I had no idea how much I relied on it until then.

Today I learned to be a bit braver. Here's my post - it can't hurt to ask.

Quote:
I'm used to selling my handwoven scarves at art & craft shows, and from my website. That's how I sell what I make. That's what I need to focus on.

Or is it?
