I think you could do
better than that (if you can negotiate effectively

).
I just did a search for
pet medicine through
Overture (Australia). About
19,616 people searched for that term in
Jan 06. I then ran it through
Google and found that the top ranking site was
petmedicinechest.com. Next one down was
1800petmeds.com (oh happy days

). Couldn't check
Adwords figures because I need an online pharmacy thingo

.
Well now, if you are getting 19,600 people searching for 'pet medicine' per month, you can safely bet that you will see that many people to your website as the keywords are in your
domain name and with a bit of fancy SEO work you will rank at the top quite easily (given that your competitors haven't really optimized their sites for that particular keyword).
Even if you get a
conversion rate of 3% you will end up with
588 people purchasing from you. I dont know how much profit is in each sale but lets say you make
$5 per sale. Thats
$2,940 per month or
$35,280 per year.
Also take into account that Overtures figures a usually a quarter of actual search numbers for a given month. So maybe you might be making
$11,760 per month or
$141,120 per year based on a $5 dollar profit margin per sale.
You could also take into account other avenues of revenue i.e
Adsense,
affiliate stuff etc.
So, you may well be sitting on a
goldmine. If you have good nerves, next time the potential buyer emails you and tries to offer you less, you can (politely) tell him to
'bash it up his (_x_)' and that you will get back to him later as you have got a few more offers from other interested parties. Then sit back and see what eventuates.
10 years ago I spent $20,000 for a business name. It was a good investment!
