I just picked some random HOT bald guy for my avatar. I think it has a lot to do with how you perceive the person. On the other hand the person chose it so that's saying something about them.

I may be wrong here but I am guessing that people select their avatars for a specific reason.
It may be something they like, something that makes them laugh, a childhood memory, trying to shock people etc etc.
Your avatar must say something about you as it was you that selected it so I guess you like it.
BTW - When I say you, I mean generically, not you specifically dude
