3 - clean out and delete members who are not active.

Thats even madder then the subscription plan...Why would you delete peoples posts and accounts? I don't really care but how would that benefit a forum?

Down at the bottom of the main page, it says "welcome to our newest member _________".

I think it needs to be changed to "Say goodbye to our newest member _________".

There is further talk in that thread of closing up the forum entirely to new members which I further can't understand seeing as how in another post, John stated that the majority of people visiting are coming through Google searches (which would dry up if pages weren't indexed).

I suppose they can make the Google IPs members but then of course you can just spoof them to get around the membership fee.

Very ballsy for a forum which I remember getting a PM in SEOCrap askingme to support it and post a bit.

He basically went from "kicking around an idea" on the 12th to implementation on the 17th. I don't get the impression that the idea was kicked around enough.

I just found this thread somehow or another and I will admit that it was absolute murder... The entire forum fell apart, almost instantly.... I'm still trying to put it back together.....

A few people pushed me into the direction of paid membership, what a nightmare.... I wish I never tryed it.... I do still have one forum area that is private unless you are a paid usergroup though, but overall - it was one of the worst things I ever did... .....

the burden is likely the spam, as mentioned. Sometimes too much of it makes us do looney things.

If they're burnt out on spammers, which I could see, then maybe they are just thinking about shutting 'er down. Although the $1 fee for members sounds great. Spam scripts/software aren't going to automatically pitch $1. And a buck is hardly a burden on new members.
