I would recommend Atlanta if you like big city life without the COL that you find in many other large cities. The trick here is finding the right niche area depending on your priorities. Traffic is pretty bad here, but again, if you find the right area near your job, you can live very comfortably. The added benifit is that salary's are relatively larger than a lot of the smaller cities and there are a ton of jobs.

I live on Long Island right now, but am working on getting out of here. It's just too damn expensive... Property taxes, fuel pricing, energy pricing, etc. Housing prices are through the roof. Had I not bought my house when I did (in 1997) there's no way I'd be able to afford to live here.

I've been looking at North Carolina or Florida lately.

Agree, love to visit there but buying a house, the price of 3b/d and 2 bathrooms, 2 garages what I am looking for is 370K and up :/
