It was also great for me. As always, you have those euphoric yet nostalgic times of being with your whole family waiting for Christmas Eve and open the gifts under the tree.

Just a nice quiet time here. I got the tree decorated, AND dinner cooked, and even got a few special treats out to some of the animals, even though they don't know it's Christmas.

I got my best gift a week before, finally replaced my broken shower head. Now I have one of those jobbies with TWO shower heads together. And I love that I got it for next to nothing, between a gift card from a friend, being on sale, and a coupon. I'm cheap like that, LOL.

I also got a new cooler for my laptop, which replaced the screaming tiny fan I've been using for the past year and so far seems like it actually works. I sure hope so, I'd hate to lose this computer.

It was a good day. My chocolate chip pecan pie turned out to be more like Mississippi Mud from Po Folks. That recipe is a keeper, but I wouldn't call it "pecan pie."

Plenty of nostalgia. My Christmas tree *IS* nostalgia, since I've had a very long-standing tradition of adding an ornament for each family member every year, for something significant from that year. It takes me back through a lot of Christmases and a lot of years.

A pair of bedroom slippers, a new cutting board engraved with our name and I gave the family a 60 inch TV and a Mac Mini to go with it (Self present!). Overall, an awesome Christmas!

Had no idea lumps of coal got that big. Must be a special deal for reaching "Lifetime" status on the naughty list.

Which best present did you get for Christmas?

I got tons of presents including a lot of useless staff but I wanted to ask you if you got anything that is of value to yourself, like a poem from your lover or may be someone gave you an engagement ring?

My husband gave me a present which will be there forever. He thinks I am from some other planet as I behave in a strange way at times, just like all women do. He invited me to Visit Earth and made a beautiful music video just for me. Here it is:

Nice. I can see why you wanted to share it. Very appropriate to the subject, the way the pics fade in from looking alien to looking earthly.

I didn't get any of the greatly significant gifts you mentioned this year. But in fact, the gift I got was very useful to me -- a cooler for my laptop (which probably will end up saving it as it overheated way too often).

I tried to think of what was most significant to me as a gift from years past. It's funny, what I remember most wasn't something given to me, but something a friend of mine gave to my daughter. He set up a website for her on a subject dear to her heart, and turned it over to her.

Other than that, thinking back, I realize it's the special gifts that I gave that stay in my mind better than ones I received. Maybe it truly is better to give than to receive.
