I think that's cruel, putting someone though a life of absolute misery.

but............ how do we know that that child would have been miserable? Not given the chance to be adopted by a loving family is even crueler

Yes, but you could also say that a lot of unplanned pregnancies become extremely unhappy children that end up in jail or on the streets with crap hanging out of their arms.

John, I watch very little TV.
I just see all the time people that are a disgrace and you can tell that they where brought up by a family that didn't love them and didn't care for them one bit.
But the more I think about it, it is a life and adoption would be a much better option.

sweetie that's just not always true... alot of people like that came from loving homes where they were wanted and cared for... and their parents are sitting at home wondering where the hell they went wrong.

I just think you are stereotyping. I have never had a plannned kid. But I love the snot outta my kids, and they are well taken care of.
Whether a kid is happy or not has very little to do with whether the pregancy was planned or not.
And, the logic just doesn't fly. Happy or sad, we no human has the right to kill another.
If I see some homeless guy crying on the sidewalk, do I have the right to tear his head off?

I can't speak for anyone else, as I believe everyone can do whatever they want. These are MY thoughts on what I would do.
If God forbid I was raped and became pregnant, that is the only way I could ever have an abortion. I agree that the baby is a living thing of some sort, from the moment of conception. However, I could not bring a child into the world that was created by a violent act, and has 50% of the genes of a rapist. I don't think the gene pool of a rapist should be allowed to carry on, so I would end the pregnancy without thinking twice. Plus, the child would have been a constant reminder of the event that brought about its conception....I could never get past that, either.
Let me add: Both of my kids were planned....but I could have had 10 unplanned pregnancies with my husband, and I would have loved and wanted them all! I know that aborting a baby conceived in rape is still killing something that's alive....but, I could justify it only in that situation. To me, any man who can rape a woman isn't even human....therefore the baby wouldn't even feel human to me. It would be like..."Rosemary's Baby" or something.

I am doing a hell of a lot of stereotyping, there is no doubt about that.
It depends on the type of person that gives birth, its easy to see that you would have no problem loving any living thing, its just the kind of guy that you are.
I'm not trying to have a go at homeless people, they would have had a really rough time and they shouldn't be on the streets.
I'm talking about stupid people who can't look after children, who have no clue what so over and are going to ruin the child's life and their own and most likely the partners by trying to raise a child that they don't want.
Anywho, I am getting bloody tired, its late and I have work tomorrow morning, so I must be off to bed. I will be interested to read the rest of the topic tomorrow.
G'night guys.
(PS, you guys have made me think harder about letting people get abortions, I used to think it wasn't a life because it was undeveloped. But now I can see there are other options.)
